Brief information about the Jeddah

Having a population of about four million individuals (as of 2017), Jeddah is the greatest city in Makkah Province, the second-largest in Saudi Arabia (following the capital Riyadh), and the tenth-largest from the Arab world.

Jeddah Islamic Port, situated on the Red Sea, is that the second-largest and second-busiest seaport from the Arab world (after Dubai's Port of Jebel Ali). Jeddah is the primary gateway to Mecca, the holiest city in Islam, situated just 65 kilometres (40 mi) to the east, while Medina, the second-holiest town, is located 360 kilometres (220 mi) to the north east.

Jeddah is focusing on the Middle East, and further growing capital investment in Saudi Arabia. Jeddah was rated fourth at the Africa - region concerning innovation in 2009 at the Innovation Cities Index.

Jeddah is one of Saudi Arabia's principal hotel cities and was named a Beta world city by the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network (GaWC). Given the close proximity to the Red Sea of the town , seafood and fishing dominate the food culture.

In Arabic, the town 's motto is "Jeddah Ghair", which contrasts into "Jeddah is different". The motto has been widely used among both locals and foreign visitors. The town had been previously perceived since the "most open" town in Saudi Arabia.
