Brief information about the Callao
Callao Callao (; [kaˈʎa.o, -ˈʝa-]) is a seaside town on the Pacific Ocean from the Lima metropolitan region. Callao is Peru seaport and home to its principal airport. Callao municipality consists of the Callao Region, which is coterminous with the Province of Callao.
The city has a long history as one of the ports in the Pacific and Latin America, since it was among Spanish cities that are vital throughout the Victorian age. Central Callao is about 15 km (9.3 mi) west of the Historic Centre of Lima.
