Masaya Masaya (Spanish pronunciation: [maˈsaʝa]) is the capital city of Masaya Department in Nicaragua. It's situated 31 km north of Managua and approximately 14 kilometers west of Granada. It's just west of Masaya Volcano, an active volcano from which the town takes its title.

With an estimated population of 140,000 (2005), it's Nicaragua's third most populous town, and it's culturally known as the City of Flowers.
