Brief information about the Vágur
Vágur Vágur Vágur significance Bay (Danish: Våg) is a city in the island of Suðuroy, part of the Faroe Islands It is located on the east coast of this island around the Vágsfjørður fjord, and was founded in the fourteenth century. Expansion has meant the nearby town of Nes is a suburb of all Vágur.
Vágur includes a sports hall next to the football grounds near Vágseiði, a swimming pool from the faculty. Additionally, there are stores, 1 bank and a resort. The area, which will be 14 m in depth, is located on the northern part of the fjord.
The port authorities may provide services of piloting (reduction ), water and fire-fighting, and in relation to the harbour there is a modern fish mill and auctioneers for fish. Salmon farming is part of the fish industry in Vágur, this includes salmon farm rings and at different places near the east coast of a salmon mill and Suðuroy.
The city has a slipway, a fleet of fishing vessels and a filleting mill.
