Brief information about the Viña del Mar
Viña del Mar Wulff Castle as observed in 1930 Viña del Mar (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈbiɲa ðel ˈmaɾ]; significance "Vineyard of the Sea") is a city and commune on central Chile's Pacific shore. Frequently referred to as La Ciudad Jardín ("The Garden City"), Viña del Mar is located inside the Valparaíso Region, and it is Chile's fourth largest city with a population of 324,836 (based on the 2012 census).
Viña del Mar can be a part of the Greater Valparaíso region, the country's third largest metropolitan region (pop. 803,683, 2002 census), following the Metropolitan regions of Santiago and Concepción. The Greater Valparaíso Area is home to Concon: Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, five municipalities, Quilpue and Villa Alemana.
