Praia Praia (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpɾajɐ], Portuguese for "beach") is the capital and largest city of Cape Verde. Located in the Sotavento Islands group, on the coast of Santiago island, the city is the seat of the Praia Municipality. Praia is Cabo Verde's economical centre.
