Bobo-Dioulasso
Brief information about the Bobo-Dioulasso
Bobo-Dioulasso Bobo-Dioulasso is a town in Burkina Faso with a population of about 537,728 (as of 2012); it's the second largest city in the nation, following Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso's capital. The title means "home of this Bobo-Dioula"; although it was probably coined by French colonists to reflect the languages of the two main groups in the people, it does not capture the intricate identity and ethnicity of this location.
The local Bobo-speaking inhabitants (related to the Mande) refers to the city simply as Sia. There are two different dialects spoken based on the roots of individuals who speak this speech. The town is situated in the southwest of the nation, at the Houet Province, some 350 km (220 mi) in Ouagadougou.
Bobo-Dioulasso is significant both economically (agricultural trade, textile industry) and as it's a major center of culture and audio.
