Cotonou Cotonou (French pronunciation: ​[kɔtɔnu]; Fon: Kútɔ̀nú) is the biggest city and economic center of Benin. Its official population count was 761,137 inhabitants in 2006; however, some estimates imply its population to be as large as 2.4 million. The people in 1960 was only 70,000.

The area continues to expand in the west. The town is located in the southeast between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Nokoué.In addition to become Benin's biggest city.

It's home to most of the country's government buildings and solutions.
